Tour Tailteann - 4 days of cycling nirvana
Tour Tailteann is kicking off on March 14-17th. It's four days of endurance cycling taking in the most scenic parts of the country. The route this year starts from Dublin taking in the Sally Gap and Mount Leinster on the first day, second day takes in a lot of the Sean Kelly route onto West Cork.
Third day moves onto the Beara penisula; finishing off with the Ring of Kerry on the last day. It normally averages out at 100miles per day but I normally get into trouble with my guesstimates ;-)
There are 2 groups, a fast and a steady group and no one is left behind. There is car back up with an ex-Olympian rower, Neal Byrne, filling the roles of massage therapist, motivator, cook, cleaner.... Eoin Ryan sometimes comes along :-)
The cycle is primarily for people who enjoy cycling but want to increase their base endurance, so is ideal for people training for Ironman distance events.
It is not run as a money making event, we stay in hostels and give some cash to the drivers of the cars for helping us out.
If you're interested in coming along, email me with some athletic background e.g. did HIM in 2007.
Here are some reports from previous trips, there are two held in Ireland every year with an annual one abroad.
