Inter/Advanced Spin
I was going to write up a more comprehensive report of the inter/advanced spin yesterday but Fran has somewhat stolen my thunder with his epic tale of woe and misfortune(soon to be made into a Hollywood blockbuster)!
For anyone who was gutted to miss out on this opportunity of a lifetime the 5 hills attempted were Ticknock Hill, Kilmashogue Lane, Cruagh, Kilakee and Bohernabreena or as I now collectively call them, The Devils Pitchfork!!
I had expected the hardest to be kept to last but in my opinion it was 1st up, Ticknock. I decided discretion is the better part of valour and chickened out of the last few hundred metres but was already feeling the strain big time at that point! My brakes were feeling the strain big time on the way down!!
Kilmashogue came close to being as severe but was manageable. I was a bit disappointed when I reached the group at the turnaround point on Cruagh as I was just getting warmed up at that point. Kilakee was another really tough hill but at least the surface was good with little if any gravel or potholes making the decent a lot less hairy. We also had a gang/hoard/mob of scouts cheering us on as we descended (not a peep out of them on the way though) which was a first for me. I've never been cheered on in training before!
Last up was Bohernabreena which was yet another reason to stay in bed! For those of you yet to have the pleasure it's a long, tough hill but with an excellent surface making for another rapid descent. Overall distance travelled from the Park was 63k apparantly. Needless to say it didn't feel like that. 14 people started with 7 finishing the last hill.
The Polkadot Jersey goes to David for summiting 1st each time with the Maillot Blanc for best young rider going to Brian who made it to the top on all bar Ticknock on his first ride with the club!
Good spin followed by a quick jog, monster bowl of soup and some apple strudel. What better way to start your Sunday!!

Did you pass Bushy Park?
Was under the impression that you would be and spent half an hour waiting for you. Gave up after that and went off on my own, but on the plus side I wasn't waiting around on account of punctures.
Sorry Alan. Went straight up
Sorry Alan. Went straight up through Terenure by the end of the Park and on to Rathfarnham Castle to Yellow House. My fault not clear enough.

Not to Worry
Thought it was great having an extra few minutes in bed. Should have checked with you Saturday night.
